Rag & Bone’s New Short Film Distorts Reality.

Rag & Bone is proving to be more than just a beloved fashion brand, it’s also a creative film powerhouse. Earlier this year, the brand released a short film starring Ansel Elgort and Kate Mara dancing it up in its latest collection. This season, it outdid itself. On Tuesday, a new short film called TIME OF DAY was released, which follows various stars wearing the brand’s Fall 2018 collection.

The film was directed by Thimios Bakatakis, the cinematographer behind The Lobster and The Killing of a Sacred Deer, and has a score by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke. And we’re not even talking about the cast—Lakeith Stanfield, Jon Hamm, Emma Roberts, Kate Mara, and Lake Bell all make cameos in the 10-minute short.

Entering the Carré du Sanglier at Jardin des Tuileries in Paris to attend the Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall/Winter 2020 presentation was like stepping into a dream-meets-The Truman Show: the floor and walls were painted as a blue sky covered in spongy, soft clouds and the set featured a sculptural tree and some tools like scissors and spools of thread referencing the craftsmanship that goes behind the beautiful clothes. Then, the models descended the stairs rocking Virgil Abloh’s newest collection, which surprised many of the attendees as it was his personal take on shirting and suiting, something different from what we’re used to seeing from the house’s artistic director.

There’s no denying that lately, New York Fashion Week has been feeling a little bit sleepy—particularly since its resident life of the party, Alexander Wang, decided to do things on his own schedule. Thankfully, though, an influx of internet-breaking body modificationisn’t all that’s here to spice up this season’s shows, which kick off this week. The official spring 2019 calendar has not only further opened up to the underground, welcoming former up-and-comers like Lou Dallas and Gauntlett Cheng, but also found itself a small but mighty roster of names to cover bases ranging from the polished to the political.
